YouTube
with more than 1 million subscribers as of 2024. This number is the highest compared to countries in Southeast Asia.
This figure exceeds other countries in the Southeast Asian region such as Vietnam (2,500), Thailand (1,300), the Philippines (450), Malaysia (190), and Singapore (170).

Veronica Utami, Country Director, Google Indonesia said that YouTube audience growth in 2025 will experience a significant jump from the previous year.According to him, YouTube channels in Indonesia can now use
influence
many audiences.
“There are 3,000 channels on YouTube currently that have more than 1 million subscribers. So imagine that each of these is like a separate media, because their influence is very massive and very broad and it is these creators who make YouTube the center of world culture or what we call
epicenter of culture
,” said Veronica at the YouTube Festival which was held at the Ritz Carlton, Pacific Place, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11).
As the leading platform in Indonesia, YouTube is a cultural center for 135 million people every day.Connecting with content from your favorite creators makes YouTube an epicenter of culture and content.
YouTube is one of the main drivers of the digital economy in Indonesia, where public interest in creative content for content creators is increasing.
“So in 2025 it will be YouTube

growing by 20 percent from year to year compared to 2024. And I call this acceleration because in 2024 itself the growth will be half that.”So we are growing twice as fast as in 2024,” he said.
According to him, trust is one of YouTube’s greatest strengths.A Kantar study found that 67 percent of viewers in Indonesia consider YouTube creators to be trusted sources.
90 percent of Indonesians agree that YouTube has the most trusted creators for product recommendations when shopping.This trust is very important among the next generation of consumers.
“In fact, based on a survey conducted by Kantar, 92 percent of viewers surveyed in Indonesia stated that they agreed that YouTube has creators who can be trusted, especially when they are trying to make decisions about what items they need to buy. And this is higher than other platforms,” he said.
Furthermore, Veronica claims that YouTube is the definitive research center for Gen Z. Gen Z viewers (aged 18-27 years) surveyed in Indonesia ranked it as their number 1 platform for researching brands and products before making a purchase.
According to him, YouTube creators not only have a wide and focused audience, but they have also succeeded in building audience trust.That trust is what ultimately influences the progress of creators and the brands they work with.
In addition, e-commerce trends are currently developing rapidly.By 2022, video e-commerce will only account for 5 percent of all e-commerce transactions.However, in 2024, the figure jumps to 20%, and continues to rise.
