(CB).
“There are several parties who associate with the activities of Mount Tangkuban Parahu, Mount Guntur and Mount Salak, we can be sure the information is not true,” said West Java BPBD on Instagram, Monday (9/22).

West Java BPBD confirms this phenomenon is the process of forming CB clouds that have the potential to become lightning storms, heavy rain, and strong winds.
“It needs to be informed according to information obtained from the BMKG forecaster, that the natural phenomenon is the process of forming cumulonimbus clouds (CB), which is a thick, dense, and towering vertical cloud,” he wrote.
“This cloud has the potential to become a lightning storm, heavy rain, strong winds,” he added.
Therefore, West Java BPBD urges people to remain aware of the potential for extreme weather, avoid open space during rain, and do not take shelter under a tree.
For information, cumulonimbos clouds are a type of cloud that can grow with a peak height reaching about 15 kilometers.
This CB cloud phenomenon is a normal phenomenon that often occurs, especially during the rainy season and the transition of the season.
Muhammad Hakiki, Senior Forecaster of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the formation of CB clouds involved complex mechanisms, one of which was vertical movement and the possibility of the process of ice formation.
“The difference in electric charge in the system of cumulonimbus cloud formation can also cause lightning flash,” he said in 2024.
He appealed to the public to remain vigilant regarding the potential for hydrometeorological disasters that might occur when entering the rainy season.
“Cumulonimbus clouds are often associated with moderate to heavy intensity rain and can be accompanied by flash and strong winds, even tornadoes and hail,” he said.
“However, the phenomenon of CB clouds is something normal, residents do not need to be afraid and worry but are still vigilant,” he added.
