Minister of Communications and Digital (Menkomdigi)
Meutya Hafid
said that internet network recovery in Aceh had increased significantly in the last few days, reaching 73.5 percent.Electricity supply is still considered to be one of the problems at sites that have not yet recovered.
“Previously, West Sumatra was already above 98-99 percent on air for its BTS. In North Sumatra it is also at 97-98 percent on air, this is also stable,” said Meutya at a Joint Call for Christmas and New Year Telecommunications Service Quality Alert Posts at the Komdigi Office, Jakarta, Friday (19/12).
“In Aceh, in the last day, 17 to 18 (December), we saw a fairly high increase from 50 percent to 00.00 today, BTS on air was already at 73.5 percent,” he added.
“I think this is hard work together with the government and fellow operators,” he said again.

Meutya said several areas that were still affected included Bener Meriah, Aceh Tamiang and Gayo Lues.
He hopes that the recovery of the telecommunications network will continue to improve in the next few days.
On the same occasion, Telkomsel President Director Nugroho said that electricity supply was still the main problem in network restoration in Aceh.
According to him, many SUTET towers have collapsed and cannot be connected. Then, integration with existing power plants cannot be fully carried out.
“Until now there are still approximately 4 power plants that are still unable to operate normally,” said Nugroho.
“Secondly, in terms of access or transport, many fiber optics experience problems or are cut off, due to the impact of floods and landslides there,” he added.
Nugroho said various efforts were being made to accelerate the recovery of this network, starting from using generators for electricity solutions to satellites and new submarine cable lines for transport problems.
Previously, on Wednesday (17/12), Meutya said that the recovery of the telecommunications network in Aceh had only reached 50 percent, but the tower base transceiver station (BTS) infrastructure had recovered 87 percent.
“Komdigi is trying its best to play a role in continuing to restore the recovery of telecommunications infrastructure in the 3 provinces. The latest update is that for West Sumatra it is already 99 point some percent. In North Sumatra the figure is already at 97-98 percent,” said Meutya at the National Meeting of Digital Literacy Activists in Jakarta, Wednesday (17/12).
“For Aceh, we do have homework. For Aceh, as of today, the on air is approximately 50 percent. If recovery means the tower is functioning, it is at 87 percent,” he continued.
