The Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) revealed several of its focuses in 2026, one of which is providing affordable internet in a number of areas.
This was conveyed by the Head of Information Systems, Training and Resource Development for APJII Members Danang Wijayanto at the National Meeting of Digital Literacy Activists held by the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).

“In 2026, what we (APJII) are focusing on is more affordable internet. Friends, maybe around here, in Java, especially in Jakarta, the internet at my own house might be around Rp. 200-Rp. 300 thousand,” said Danang.
“But friends, do you know, maybe there are representatives from Maluku Papua, the price is almost double. To get better internet,” he added.
He said the price difference was due to several things, including the distance from the backbones.
Seeing this price gap, APJII and its more than 1,400 members are pushing for equal distribution of the internet, so that all people, all digital players, all MSMEs can enjoy quality and affordable internet together.
The 2025 APJII survey stated that Indonesia’s internet penetration reached 80.66 percent.Java is the region with the highest penetration, while the lowest penetration is in Maluku and Papua, namely at 69 percent of the total population.
Apart from affordable internet, Danang also touched on cooperation between stakeholders, from regional government, central government, to industry players.
APJII’s next focus is related to habits in using the internet.Danang told how users sometimes blame internet service providers when fraud occurs or cyber security problems occur.
He claims that each provider has prepared and designed internet security infrastructure in such a way to protect users.
“What we want to highlight is, let’s create an Indonesian internet ecosystem that is strong, equitable and sustainable for a better digital future,” said Danang.
