“In the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 period, BMKG predicts that extreme weather has the potential to occur in many regions in Indonesia,” said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto, Saturday (20/12), reported

Primarily, extreme weather has the potential to occur in Sumatra, Java, Bali-NTB-NTT, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua.
“You still need to be alert to puddles and sudden weather changes,” continued Guswanto.
BMKG also warned of the risk of strong winds and high waves as well as the potential for tropical cyclones, especially around the Indian Ocean and Arafuru Sea.
Meanwhile, specifically for the Jabodetabek area, moderate light rain to thunderstorms has the potential to occur at several points.
On 19-21 December 2025, Jakarta is predicted to be dominated by light to moderate rain.
Meanwhile, at Christmas time (25/12), Central Jakarta and its surroundings are predicted to experience light rain.Light rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in North Jakarta on the same day.
BMKG reminded that although heavy rain will not come every day, people still need to be alert to the potential for thunderstorms and strong winds.This mainly occurs in the afternoon to evening.
“Avoid long trips without checking BMKG weather forecasts. Be aware of areas prone to flooding or inundation in Jabodetabek. Prepare alternative plans if there is thunderstorms or strong winds during Christmas celebrations,” said BMKG.
