Today (15/12), heavy to very heavy rain has the potential to occur in Bogor Regency.
Meanwhile, strong winds have the potential to occur in Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang, North Jakarta, East Jakarta, South Jakarta and the Thousand Islands.
On Tuesday (16/12), Bogor Regency still has the potential for rain, but with lower intensity, namely moderate to heavy.
Areas with the potential for strong winds are also reduced, namely Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang, North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands.
On Wednesday (17/12), the areas that have the potential to experience strong winds are still the same. However, the potential for moderate to heavy rain, which was previously only in Bogor Regency, is predicted to spread to East Jakarta, South Jakarta, Seribu Islands, Bogor City and Depok City.
In the warning, BMKG did not explain what atmospheric activity caused this.
However, in the Weekly Weather Outlook for the Period 12-18 December, BMKG stated that a number of atmospheric phenomena were occurring in the country, starting from the global, regional and local scales.
On a global scale, the Dipole Mode Index (DMI) is currently recorded at −0.63, which indicates the potential for increased formation of rain clouds, especially in western Indonesia.
Meanwhile, warm sea surface temperature conditions on the west coast of Sumatra, the southern waters of NTT and Papua, and ENSO conditions are in the neutral category, which is indicated by a Nino 3.4 index value of -0.45 and a Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) of +2.7, which is not significant for increasing the potential for rain in eastern Indonesia.
On a regional scale, active Kelvin Waves and Equatorial Rossby Waves in the western Indian Ocean region of the Mentawai Islands, Java Island and Bali also contribute to increased growth of rain clouds in the region.
Apart from that, in the latest Analysis of Tropical Cyclone Seeds and Tropical Cyclones, BMKG stated that there are two tropical cyclone seeds and one tropical cyclone that is currently active.
Tropical Cyclone Bakung, which formed on December 12, is currently in the Indian Ocean southwest of Lampung and is expected to continue moving east-southeast away from Indonesian territory.
However, this tropical cyclone has the potential to impact moderate to heavy intensity rain in Bengkulu and Lampung.
Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Seed 93S is currently in the Indian Ocean south of East Java with a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
This tropical cyclone seed has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy intensity rain in Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara as well as strong winds in East Java and Bali.
Then, there is Tropical Cyclone Seed 95S which was just born today (15/12) and is in the Arafura Sea area west of South Papua. This cyclone seed is said to have low potential to become a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
However, 95S has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy rain in South Papua, as well as heavy to very heavy rain in Southeast Maluku.
