The regions of Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra are still experiencing network disruption due to floods and landslides.

Telkomsel said the main problem with network restoration was the availability of electricity supply and difficult transportation access to the location.

VP Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility Telkomsel Abdullah Fahmi said that the Aceh region is currently still being impacted quite massively.
“In Aceh, around 60 percent of our BTS were affected, so from floods, landslides, and there were also some bridge accesses, we couldn’t get in,” said Fahmi in Jakarta, Friday (28/11).
“Then in North Sumatra around 12 percent of BTS were down, and finally in West Sumatra 11.03 percent,” he added.
On the same occasion, VP Network Strategic Collaboration and Settlement Telkomsel Nizar Fuadi said that his party was providing network backup to accommodate communication needs in the affected areas.
“From the telecommunications side, preparing backups, the first backup is the battery, this battery has limitations, yes, it will last 4 hours, after that we will backup with a generator, this generator also needs to be mobilized to each location,” he said.
Separately, similar recovery efforts were also carried out by Indosat.Indosat said data as of Thursday (27/11) showed that 71.68 percent of sites in the northern Sumatra region were functioning.

The steps taken by Indosat are said to be able to accommodate basic service needs such as telephone and short messages as well as limited data services.
“Indosat is committed to maintaining service continuity and supporting customer communication needs in affected areas,” he added.
On Thursday (27/11), the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) said that 799 sites or around 23.4 percent of sites in Aceh were affected.
Of this figure, 334 sites belong to Indosat, 254 sites belong to Telkomsel, and 208 sites belong to XLSmart.
Meanwhile, data as of Wednesday (26/11), in West Sumatra there were 16 Telkomsel sites affected by floods and landslides.
