which is being studied by the government.According to Google, this means that influencers and content creators are starting to be considered a serious profession.

“I think this discourse is a good thing. This means that content creation is considered a serious profession,” said Veronica at the YouTube Festival held at the Ritz Carlton, Pacific Place, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11).
“Maybe you didn’t imagine, 15, 13 years ago, that the profession of content creator would have the same certification as financial planner certification, right? It’s extraordinary to have reached this stage,” he continued.
In principle, Google and YouTube respect every effort to improve the quality of creators. However, they believe that this discourse needs further discussion so that the policies produced are in line with the needs of the diverse ecosystem of creators and platforms.
According to Veronica, this will also encourage capacity building or upskilling for creators, and have a positive impact on the creative world.
From the platform side, YouTube explains that they proactively have standardization through the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). YouTube also implements and updates community guidelines regularly.
This program has certain requirements before a content creator can monetize their content and use advanced features, such as channel membership or YouTube Shopping.
“We ourselves have proactively created standardization. Earlier Ms. Vero already said that there must be standardization. If you want to be a creator, you have to be verified, it’s called the YouTube Partner Program, eh YPP,” explained Feliciana Wienathan, Google Communication Manager.
One of the creators, Dewi Vanow, who now has 5.9 M subscribers, shared her experience about the big changes she experienced in her career on the YouTube platform.
Initially, Dewi joined YouTube just to channel her hobby, which is like children’s toys, by creating light content.
“It might seem like it might be taken for granted, but at that time I was still confident that this was my uniqueness that I wanted to share. Maybe there are a lot of adults out there who are embarrassed, yes, to reveal their childish side, like that. So, I started sharing shorts on YouTube,” said Dewi.
Previously, the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Kemkomdigi) was reviewing the Chinese government’s new policy which requires influencers to have certification to be able to create content related to certain topics.
Head of the Ministry of Communication and Higher Education’s Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said that his party was still conducting internal discussions and analysis regarding these regulations.
“This information is still new, we are still reviewing it first. We have a WA (WhatsApp) group, we are discussing ‘How is this issue? There are countries that have issued new policies’, we are still reviewing this,” said Bonifasius at the Kemkomdigi Office, Central Jakarta on Thursday (30/10), reported
