This case emerged in 2020. At that time, James hacked at least 130 Twitter accounts, including the big names above and other well-known companies.This case has also become a global spotlight, because the list of victims is no joke.
The hack was part of a Bitcoin fraud scheme that used celebrity accounts to trick people into sending crypto in return.In his action, he promises these well-known people or organizations to double the amount for charitable purposes.Tweets from the hacked accounts are estimated to have been viewed at least 350 million times.
His actions were discovered and he had to deal with the law.For his actions, O’Connor was later sentenced to five years in prison by a United States court.
However, that punishment was not the only one he received.Most recently, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that it has obtained a Civil Recovery Order to seize the 42 Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies that O’Connor obtained from the scheme.
The crypto is worth around 4.1 million pounds sterling or around Rp. 90 billion.Meanwhile, the value of Bitcoin alone has now exceeded US$4 million or the equivalent of Rp. 66.6 billion.
“We can make full use of the powers available to us to ensure that even when someone is not convicted in the UK,” said Adrian Foster, Principal Public Prosecutor of the CPS Proceeds of Crime Division, Monday (17/11), reported

“We can still ensure that they do not profit from the crimes they commit,” he continued.
