Records from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) show that a number of areas received heavy rain over the last few days in the range of 50-100 mm/day.

Some of them are in Tanah Merah, South Papua (92.2 mm/day), Palembang, South Sumatra (65.2 mm/day), Tanjung Harapan, East Kalimantan (60.0 mm/day), Nunukan, North Kalimantan (70.2 mm/day), Bandaneira, Maluku (62.9 mm/day), Makassar, South Sulawesi (61.4 mm/day), Mimika, Papua (58.2 mm/day),and Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi (56.3 mm/day).
Heavy rain events in various regions are caused by various factors that influence the dynamics of Indonesia’s atmosphere, both on a global, regional and local scale.
The peak of the rainy season itself has begun for western Indonesia.In its Prediction for the 2025/2026 Rainy Season in Indonesia, BMKG said that this region experiences the peak of the rainy season between November and December.
Meanwhile, southern and eastern Indonesia are predicted to enter the peak of the rainy season from January to February.
BMKG said the start of the rainy season in Indonesia this time did not occur at the same time.
As many as 333 ZOM (47.6 percent) in Indonesia will enter the rainy season from September to November 2025, while parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan will enter the rainy season before September 2025.
Once it begins, the start of the rainy season extends gradually to the southern and eastern regions, with most areas starting to experience the rainy season in September, October and November 2025.
Compared to normal, the 2025/2026 rainy season is said to be advanced or arriving earlier than usual.
In terms of the nature of the season, the accumulated rainfall conditions in the 2025/2026 rainy season are predicted to be in the Normal category, which indicates that conditions are neither wetter nor drier than usual.
