working in a shop. The store, called 7S, managed by the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, features robots performing a variety of tasks, from cashiers and maintenance to industrial assembly and entertainment.
The “7S” store model was developed from the traditional automotive “4S” concept which refers to sales, service, spare parts and survey. This store has added solution, exhibition and education functions (solution, show and school) to create an integrated ecosystem for industry and consumers.
“From AI devices to humanoid robots and accessories, we offer more than 70 products with prices ranging from several hundred to hundreds of thousands of yuan,” said Li Zhengxiang, chairman of the innovation center, quoted by Xinhua, Monday (17/11).

In addition to being a retail store, it functions as a training and education center offering operator and maintenance courses for engineers as well as programming classes for students.
In the experience zone, kids can also play soccer with humanoid robots or watch a robot boxing match for a small fee.
Wuhan is emerging rapidly as the main center of China’s humanoid robot industry, with six machine manufacturers, more than 80 core companies, and nearly 1,000 related companies.
The city is also encouraging the use of humanoid robots in sectors such as automotive, pharmaceutical logistics and smart home appliances. They have built several demonstration production lines and model factories.
Local officials said Wuhan will provide an industrial investment fund worth 1 billion yuan (about US$141 million) to support the development of companies in various fields and build a humanoid robot industrial cluster worth 100 billion yuan by 2027.
“With a strong industrial base and abundant human resources, Wuhan has unique advantages in developing the humanoid robot industry,” Li said.
“By placing our 7S stores in commercial areas, we aim to make advanced technology accessible to everyone, and every interaction with customers helps us improve products and applications in the future,” he added.
Furthermore, the outlet in Wuhan is part of a wave of robot-themed retail experiments underway across the country.
In July, a “6S” robot shop that claims to be the world’s first opened in Shenzhen, China’s southern technology hub.
A month later, Beijing Robot Mall, a 4,000-square-meter “4S” robot exhibition space, was launched during the robot consumption festival. The event featured more than 50 products covering medical, industrial and companion robotics.
Industry analysts say such efforts reflect China’s enthusiasm for integrating robotics into everyday life.A report from the think tank predicts that by 2045, China will have more than 100 million humanoid robots operating in various industries, creating a total market value of about 10 trillion yuan.
