Apart from internet assistance, on the same occasion the inauguration of the Digital Tunas Generation Roketin Ambassadors was also held as an effort to build an ethical digital culture in the school environment.
These student ambassadors will be tasked with providing outreach regarding Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance for the Implementation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS), as well as how to use safe digital spaces to their peers.
“Children are also asked to socialize to their friends about the importance of delaying the age for entering social media according to the child’s growth and development,” said Meutya.
According to him, efforts to protect children in the digital space are not enough just through regulations, but need to be accompanied by real practices in the child’s immediate environment, including example from parents and teachers.
“If children are not allowed to use social media, teachers should also not play social media in front of their children. So we hope teachers can set a good example,” added Meutya.
He reminded that it is important to protect children from becoming addicted to social media. The reason is, this addiction risks disrupting children’s growth and development and mental health.
Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, Surya expressed his appreciation for the free internet facilities provided to schools in his region.
Surya hopes that this assistance can reduce the digital gap between schools and encourage innovation in learning methods.
“We are committed to ensuring that all students get the same opportunity to enjoy digital education,” concluded Surya.
