Minister of Communications and Digital Meutya Hafid said that this drastic reduction compared to the previous year was not only the government’s efforts, but also a collective achievement with the community.

“This is a collective achievement of the government and society, showing that the state is seriously present to protect society, especially vulnerable groups, from the trap of online gambling,” said Meutya in her statement, Wednesday (17/12).
Meutya emphasized that the data released by PPATK strengthens the government’s claim of success in suppressing online gambling practices in the country.
“PPATK data is a very credible indicator that the government’s monitoring, access termination and law enforcement policies are effective and measurable,” he said.
Furthermore, Meutya said that the government’s efforts would not stop at current achievements and would continue to strengthen supervision and action against all forms of online gambling practices.
“In principle, we will continue to narrow the space for actors, both in terms of content, digital infrastructure and the flow of funds,” he said.
The Ministry of Communication and Technology itself is said to have consistently cut off access to content and online gambling sites operating in the Indonesian digital space.
“We follow up on every public report and system finding quickly as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy digital space,” he said.
Previously, Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana revealed that the turnover of online gambling funds in Indonesia in 2025 was recorded at IDR 155.4 trillion, a significant decrease compared to 2024 which reached IDR 359.8 trillion.
PPATK also noted a significant decline in the number of online gambling players.In 2025, the number of players will be recorded at 3.1 million people, down 68.32 percent compared to 9.7 million players in 2024.
