provides SATRIA-1 satellite-based internet services in 10 points affected by the flood disaster in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).
Minister of Communications and Technology Meutya Hafid said this step was taken as an effort to restore connectivity to residents affected since the flood disaster struck.
“When the communications network is cut off, SATRIA-1 is present as a savior. In this way, residents can reconnect even though the connectivity infrastructure is experiencing disruption,” said Meutya Hafid in her statement, Sunday (30/11).

Meutya said the SATRIA-1 satellite, which has been operating since last year, was designed to reach 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier and Outermost) areas and areas that are difficult to access, including during major disasters.
Then, Meutya also asked the public to remain alert, follow officers’ directions, and use this internet access service to obtain official information from the government.
On Sunday (30/11), the BAKTI Komdigi Team together with BNPB, SAR Team, TNI have mobilized devices to internet service points and are targeting to be operational in the near future.
The following is a list of SATRIA-1 internet service locations:
1. Pinangsori Airport/Dr.Fredric Lumban Tobing, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province
2. SMAN 1 Plus Matauli Pandan, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province
3. Near the Baitul Gafur Mosque, North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province
4. Command Center, Central Aceh Regency, Aceh Province
5. Lhokseumawe Mayor’s Office, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province
6. Langsa City, Aceh Province
7. East Aceh Regency, Aceh Province
8. Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province
9. Jorong Bukik Malanca, East Malalak Nagari, Malalak District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province
10. West Sumatra Regional BNPB UPT, Padang City, West Sumatra Province
Komdigi also continues to coordinate with cellular operators to restore BTS towers that are experiencing flooding problems.
As of Saturday (29/11), 707 BTS sites that had been affected by floods and landslides in three provinces had been successfully restored.
There are 564 towers operating normally in Aceh Province, 112 towers in North Sumatra, and 31 towers in West Sumatra.
Now, there are 1,756 towers that are still in the process of recovery from the previous 2,463 towers experiencing disruption on Friday (28/11) at 07.00 WIB.
