Ministry of Communications and Digital (
Komdigi
) destroyed dozens of illegal and uncertified telecommunications equipment whose use had the potential to disrupt public services such as aviation, disaster response and telecommunications.
“The 75 devices destroyed today were evidence of the results of raids in Yogyakarta Special Region Province and Central Java Province, in this case in Semarang,” said Ervan Fathurokhman Adiwidjaja, Plh.Director General of Digital Infrastructure at the Kalasan Monitoring Center Station, Yogyakarta, Thursday (27/11).

Ervan said there were 15 devices from the Yogyakarta Monitoring Center consisting of homemade frequency transmitters, microwave link devices, access points and GSM repeaters.
Meanwhile, 60 other devices came from the Semarang Monitoring Center and consisted of radio broadcast exciters, ethernet switches, media converter routers and modems that were used without valid permission.
Ervan explained that controlling illegal devices was not the first time this had been carried out.Throughout 2025, similar enforcement has been carried out three times.
He said that taking action against frequency utilization is a national agenda in maintaining frequency spectrum governance in Indonesia.
“What we are doing today may be physically just hitting and crushing the device. But in substance we are closing a source of interference,” said Ervan.
“By controlling the frequency spectrum as a routine Komdigi activity, we are preparing a clean foundation for aviation safety, speed of disaster response, and quality of telecommunications services so that all of Indonesia’s digital infrastructure can work for the same goal, namely the interests and safety of the people,” he added.
Violation mode
Ervan said there are several modes of violations that are often found related to radio equipment, ranging from radio broadcasts broadcasting on illegal frequencies to using home-made transmitters without a certificate.
Then, there is also the use of wireless access points that are modified so that they transmit outside the class permission allocation and violate the provisions of the equipment certificate.
Apart from that, the use of GSM repeaters purchased online without certification, which when turned on actually disrupts the official cellular operator network.
“For community members, we also urge you to stop using homemade devices and cheap devices that are not certified,” said Ervan.
“What seems cheap at the start can actually be very expensive when it results in disruption of public services and leads to administrative sanctions and criminal sanctions,” he stressed.
