“The artificial intelligence machine behind it works with mathematical formulas, all with numbers. Meanwhile, we have a way of communicating that is unique to humans, which sometimes can only be read by fellow humans,” Nezar quoted as saying.

Nezar said that the development of AI technology has brought major disruption in various fields, including in the way humans communicate.With the presence of generative AI, the process of creating content in the form of text, images and videos can now be done quickly, even with minimal human involvement.
However, despite its sophistication, AI still has fundamental weaknesses.
“One thing that makes humans different from machines is the ability to empathize and critical thinking abilities,” he said.
Nezar added that AI also has the potential to hallucinate, which means its output results are not always accurate.He cited the case of an international consultant who had to return money to the Australian government because their research report turned out to be sourced from fictitious data generated by AI.
“One of the biggest consultants in the world had to return the money because the results of the consultancy they made, the research and surveys they carried out, turned out to come from fictitious sources. They referred to a number of documents and journals that apparently never existed,” said Nezar.
Therefore, Nezar reminded the important role of humans in maintaining ethical and human values amidst the rapid development of digital technology.He invited communication practitioners to continue to hone their empathy and critical thinking skills so that the messages conveyed remain human and meaningful.
He also emphasized the need for human involvement in every decision-making process, to mitigate the risk of errors that may arise due to the use of AI.
“Technology is just a tool. Behind every important decision, there must still be a human touch,” said Nezar.
