“The issue of digital space, including online games, has attracted the attention of the government and the public in recent times. Therefore we need to move quickly and in a measured way, but still open up space for dialogue with industry so that our digital ecosystem is safe without hampering innovation,” said Komdigi’s Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, in a statement, Friday (14/11).
On this occasion, online game publishers expressed their appreciation for the government’s openness and expressed their commitment to support the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance for the Implementation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS), including age classification, content moderation, parental control, and education for parents.
“PP Tunas sets minimum security standards for all digital platforms, including online games. Starting from age verification, limiting access to high-risk features, to content moderation. All of this is the foundation for ensuring that the digital space remains safe and suitable for children,” said Alex.
He said that PP Tunas is the legal basis for child protection, while the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) functions as a technical instrument for game classification.
During the hearing, Komdigi and representatives of the gaming industry agreed on the need to harmonize regulations so that the compliance process is clearer, easier and does not overlap.
AGI and industry players also expressed their readiness to be actively involved in digital literacy and help increase understanding regarding the healthy and safe use of games for children.
“The integration of PP Tunas and IGRS is the key so that child protection can be effective. All digital platforms must have consistent and enforceable guidelines. PSE compliance is not only about fulfilling the rules, but also a joint commitment to maintaining a child-friendly digital space,” explained Alex.
Furthermore, Komdigi also explained follow-up plans, starting from holding further technical meetings with associations and publishers, preparing

online game content moderation, updating digital literacy modules for parents and children, and establishing a joint Working Group to synchronize policies.
In closing, Alex emphasized that the government never had the intention to limit the growth of the gaming industry, but to ensure the digital space developed safely and responsibly.
“We want the games industry to develop, be creative and competitive. But child protection is the red line. The key is collaboration: government, industry, parents and schools must move together,” he stressed.
