The latest analysis by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (
BMKG
) shows the movement of Tropical Cyclone Bakung moving closer to Indonesian territory.
The latest analysis on Tuesday (16/12) at 07.00 WIB stated that Tropical Cyclone Bakung is currently in the Indian Ocean southwest of Lampung at 10.9 degrees South Latitude and 93.1 degrees East Longitude or around 1,280 kilometers southwest of Bengkulu.
This tropical cyclone is moving northeast at a speed of 4 knots (8 km per hour).Currently this tropical cyclone has a strength of 40 knots (75 km per hour) with a pressure of 995 hPa.

Tropical cyclone Bakung itself developed from the seeds of tropical cyclone 91S which grew since December 7 in the Indian Ocean southwest of Lampung.This low pressure system turned into a tropical cyclone on December 12 at 19.00 WIB.
In the next 24 hours, BMKG estimates that Tropical Cyclone Bakung will be at 10.5 degrees South Latitude, 93.7 degrees East Longitude or around 1200
km southwest of Bengkulu.Daffodils are estimated to continue moving northeast at a speed of 5 knots (9 km per hour).
In addition, the maximum wind speed of this tropical cyclone is predicted to decrease during this period to the Low category from previously category 1.
Even though its strength has decreased, this tropical cyclone is said to still have an indirect impact in the next 24 hours, such as rain with moderate to heavy intensity in Bengkulu and Lampung.
Then, moderate category waves (1.25-2.5 meters) in the Indian Ocean west of Lampung and the southern part of the Sunda Strait.Then, high category sea waves (2.5-4 meters) in the Indian Ocean west of Kep.Nias to Bengkulu.
Apart from Tropical Cyclone Bakung, there are two tropical cyclone seeds that are currently active, namely Tropical Cyclone Seeds 93S and 95S.
The spawn of Tropical Cyclone 93S, which began to form on December 11, was at 12.8 degrees South Latitude and 113.5 degrees East Longitude around the South Indian Ocean, East Java.This cyclone seed has a maximum wind speed around the system reaching 15 knots (28 km per hour) with a minimum pressure of around 1005 hPa.
BMKG said the potential for Tropical Cyclone Seed 93S to become a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 hours is low.
Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Seed 95S, which began to form on December 15, is currently at 8.8 degrees South Latitude and 134.4 degrees East Longitude around the Arafura Sea area south of the Aru Islands, Maluku.This cyclone seed has a maximum wind speed around the system reaching 20 knots (37 km per hour) with a minimum pressure of around 1005 hPa.
The potential for Tropical Cyclone Seed 95S to become a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 hours is also low.
93S has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy intensity rain in Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara as well as strong winds in East Java and Bali.
Meanwhile, 95S has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy intensity rain in South Papua, as well as heavy to very heavy rain in Southeast Maluku.
