Quoted from various sources, the following is a list of celestial phenomena in November 2025:
Taurids meteor shower
The peak of the Taurids meteor shower will occur on November 4-5.The Taurids are small meteor showers that last a long time, producing around 5-10 meteors per hour.
This meteor shower is known to be unique because it consists of two separate sources. The first stream was produced by dust particles left behind by Asteroid 2004 TG10.The second stream is generated by debris left behind by Comet 2P Encke.
This meteor shower takes place every year from September 7 to December 10.Unfortunately, at its peak period of the year, the light of the Full Moon will hide most of this year’s meteors.
If you’re really patient, you might still be able to see some bright meteors. The best time to observe is after midnight from a dark location away from city lights.
Meteors will be centered in the constellation Taurus, but can appear anywhere in the sky.
Supermoon
The moon will be in its full phase on November 5.In this phase, the peak of the full moon occurs at 20:19 WIB.
The full moon in November was known by early Native American tribes as the Beaver Moon because this was the time of year to set beaver traps before the swamps and rivers froze over. This month is also known as the Frozen Moon and the Dark Moon.
This full moon is also the second of three Supermoons in 2025.
The supermoon itself occurs when the Moon is at its closest distance to Earth (perigee). In this phenomenon, the Moon may appear slightly bigger and brighter than usual.
Leonids meteor shower
The Leonids is a meteor shower that produces up to 15 meteors per hour at its peak. This meteor shower is known to be unique because it has a cyclonic peak every 33 years, where hundreds of meteors per hour can be observed. The last peak of this phenomenon is known to have occurred in 2001.
The Leonids meteor shower itself is produced by dust grains left by the comet Tempel-Tuttle which was discovered in 1865. This meteor shower takes place every year from November 6 to 30.The peak this year occurs on November 17-18.
This year the Leonids should produce a beautiful sight. The reason is, the thin crescent Moon will not be a big problem, and the sky will be dark enough for this meteor display.
The best time to observe is from a dark location after midnight.Meteors will be centered in the constellation Leo, but can appear anywhere in the sky.
Micromoon
The New Moon phase will occur on November 20, and the Moon will be on the same side of the Earth as the Sun making it invisible in the night sky. This phase occurred at 13:47 WIB.
Uniquely, the New Moon phase this time is a Micromoon phenomenon. As opposed to a Supermoon, a Micromoon occurs when the Moon is at its farthest point from the Earth (apogee).
Night is the best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters because there is no moonlight to interfere.
