Oppo presents a new approach to their offline retail stores which now not only sell cellphones and gadgets, but are a place to hang out like a coffee shop. Here, visitors can enjoy coffee from Finders Cafe, read and buy books on the shelves, and watch humanoid robots in action.
The beginning of the transformation of this retail store was told by Oppo Indonesia CEO Jim Zhang in a session with business partners and several media crew at the Sheraton Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday (14/12).

Jim was inspired by a bookstore in Shenzhen, China which he visited 3 years ago with his children. There, he saw a bookstore which not only consisted of shelves, but also a cafe and an area for relaxing and hanging out.
“When I returned to Indonesia, I immediately told the team about this shop. Then we found a location at AEON JGC (Jakarta Garden City) which was quite large and we immediately created a store with a similar concept there,” said Jim.
“At that time, there were lots of partners, whether from leasing or for example from competitors, or from other friends, everyone felt that this concept was a very new concept. Because it was different, no one had ever mixed a cell phone shop with a book shop and so on,” he added.
Not long after, Oppo opened a similar shop in Deli Park Medan.
These shops are said to have received quite good enthusiasm, with Oppo Finders Cafe being able to sell 80 to 100 cups of drinks per day, even the shop in Deli Park is claimed to be able to sell 7,000 to 8,000 cups of drinks per month.
The good reception made Jim decide to add outlets with the same format in Jakarta, one of which was the Oppo Flagship Store Gandaria City.
One of the special things about this outlet is the presence of a humanoid robot that can not only walk, but also run, dance and even do kung fu.
“Here there is a robot. Maybe you could say this robot is the first robot in Indonesia that can not only walk, it can run, but it can also do kung fu,” explained Jim.
Jim said that robots are a symbol of the most modern technology today and he hopes that Oppo can stand side by side with this kind of leading technology.
Apart from robots, this shop also offers a lounge area to a co-working corner and a coffee corner. Finders Cafe is presented to support the habits of Indonesian people who like to spend time with friends and family, both for casual conversation and working.
Oppo Flagship Store Gandaria City also presents 3D printing facilities so that visitors can make cellphone accessories according to their respective characters.Visitors can choose a design, add a name, and watch the manufacturing process directly in the store.
