“Cellular operators report that in West Sumatra it has recovered 95 percent and in North Sumatra 90 percent. For Aceh, electricity problems are still causing around 60 percent of the towers to not operate,” said Meutya after chairing a coordination meeting in Medan, Monday (1/12), according to her official statement.
“The government together with operators and PLN continue to work so that services return to normal soon,” he added.
Referring to Komdigi data, as of Monday (1/12) at 00.00 WIB, the total towers experiencing disruption in the three provinces reached 2,804 towers, consisting of 1,969 towers in Aceh, 681 in North Sumatra and 154 in West Sumatra.
Meutya emphasized that signal recovery in Aceh is targeted to increase significantly in the next four days in line with improvements in electricity supply by PLN.The government is also working with the TNI to speed up the delivery of repair materials to hard-to-reach areas.
Apart from technical recovery, the Minister of Communication and Technology appreciated the steps taken by cellular operators to provide tariff discounts and extend the active period of cards for users in affected areas.
