Unfortunately, Meutya did not provide further details on the points that would be discussed at the meeting.
Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia lost up to US$8 billion or the equivalent of Rp. 133 trillion (dollar exchange rate Rp. 16,640) due to online gambling.
Prabowo conveyed this at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) at the Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO), Gyeongju, South Korea, Saturday (1/11).
“It is estimated that Indonesia loses around US$8 billion every year due to outflows caused by online gambling,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also warned about challenges that cross national borders and require global solidarity to be addressed.
He said that smuggling between countries would not benefit each country’s economy.
“We face big challenges, corruption, smuggling, fraud, and we need cooperation among the APEC community,” he said.
Separately, PPATK revealed that total online gambling transactions from January to October 2025 reached IDR 155 trillion.
Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana said that although it is still high, the amount is much lower, up to 56 percent of online gambling transactions that will occur in 2024, amounting to IDR 359 trillion.
“Compared to last year, the full 12 (months) amounted to Rp. 359 trillion. Now it is almost the 12th month, we have succeeded in reducing it to Rp. 155 trillion,” he said at a press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).
Apart from the transaction value, Ivan said that the deposit value made by online gambling players was also successfully reduced. He said that last year the amount reached IDR 51 trillion, but now it has shrunk to IDR 24 trillion in October 2025.
“Last year’s deposits were IDR 51 trillion, people who made deposits, now we can reduce it to IDR 24 trillion,” he added.
