“We realize that there is still inequality of access in various regions, therefore development in these regions will be a priority in 2026,” said Minister Meutya at the Digital Indonesia Direction Declaration event in South Jakarta, citing the official Komdigi website, Wednesday (10/12).
This effort is a step towards achieving more inclusive development. This statement was issued after the Ministry of Communications and Digital carried out massive infrastructure development in 2023-2024.
Referring to Komdigi data, around 86 percent of schools or 190,000 units still do not have permanent internet access.Apart from that, 75 percent of community health centers or 7,800 units are not properly connected.
Then, as many as 32,000 village offices are still in areas without internet access, and only 21.31 percent of households in Indonesia have fixed broadband.
Meutya emphasized that the infrastructure that has been built must be able to produce a greater economic impact.
According to him, the current use of infrastructure is not optimal and is not commensurate with the capacity that can actually be produced.
He added, although technological developments have brought economic benefits, the potential for improvement is still very open and needs to continue to be encouraged. The digital space should facilitate the collaborative growth of communities, businesses and governments.
“Digital transformation must create real added value for the economy and open up opportunities for all,” he said.
