During the same period, Kaspersky also identified more than 20 million attack attempts on gaming platforms, including 18.56 million that misused Discord.
In the first two weeks of November, Kaspersky also detected 146,535 spam emails referring to seasonal sales.
Kaspersky said many cyberattack campaigns reuse old templates such as impersonating well-known retailers Amazon, Walmart and Alibaba, which offer early bird discounts to direct users to fake pages.
Extensive phishing activity abusing entertainment platforms was also detected, with 801,148 Netflix-related attempts and 576,873 Spotify-related attempts recorded in 2025.
This year, Kaspersky also detected 2,054,336 phishing attempts impersonating gaming platforms such as Steam, PlayStation and Xbox.
Malware disguised as gaming software also shows significant activity.Kaspersky cited 20,188,897 infection attempts, with Discord recording 18,556,566 detections.
This figure is 14 times higher than in 2024.
“This year’s data shows that attackers are increasingly operating across the digital ecosystem,” said Olga Altukhova, Senior Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky in a statement, Monday (1/12).
“They monitor user activity across shopping platforms, gaming services, streaming apps and communications devices, adapting their methods to suit familiar environments,” he added.
According to Altukhova, this makes consistent vigilance and basic security especially important, especially during periods of increased online activity.
To avoid cyber threats in the digital space, there are several things that can be implemented.
First, don’t trust any links or attachments received via email and always double-check the sender before opening anything.
Additionally, double check the e-shop website before filling in any information.Check that the URL is correct and whether there are any spelling errors or design bugs that could be an indication of a fake site.
If you want to buy something from an unknown company, always check the reviews before making a decision.
