Ternus was born and raised in the United States (US).He studied at the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduated in 1997.
After working as an engineer at Virtual Research Systems, he joined Apple in 2001 as a member of the Product Design team.
After joining this technology giant for more than a decade, Ternus was trusted to serve as Vice President of Hardware Engineering, until finally he rose to become Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook.
In this position, Ternus is responsible for all Apple hardware development, from the iPhone, iPad, Mac, to AirPods.He also led strategic projects that strengthened Apple’s reputation as a company with the most tightly integrated technology and design in the world.
