The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) mentions 1,000 efforts

Attacking Indonesian people every day, making this problem a very serious issue.
“If the data from the Ministry of Komdigi and OJK is combined, reports related to scams and spam, per day are more than a thousand reports. So I sit here from the morning, up to here on stage, there are 50 incoming reports, related to scams and spams,” said Director of Certification and Electronic Transactions of Kemenkomdigi Arifiyadi in the launch of the SPAM Solutions and SPAM SCAM in Jakarta, Thursday (7/8).
Teguh said the majority of reports received by his party came from people in the lower middle class.However, he said, scam and spam also targeted the upper middle class community.
“There is even a deputy minister who has reported a scam. What does it mean? There is no concrete correlation, that high education will prevent people from being exposed to scams or spams. All have been hit, or at least have been hit by an experiment for scam or spam,” he said.
Even so, Teguh did not explain specifically who was the deputy minister who had been a victim of a scam.
Teguh explained that reports that came into his party related to account fraud reached 800 thousand reports, while cellular number fraud reached more than 160 thousand reports per year.
“For accounts alone, there are more than 800 thousand reports. For cellular numbers, more than 160 thousand. That is in a matter of years. And everything we block,” Teguh said.
On the same occasion, Wamenkomdigi Nezar Patria said cyber fraud had caused financial losses of around Rp476 billion in the November 2024 period to January 2025.
Responding to this issue, he admitted that his party had a fraud handling mechanism in collaboration with the Cyber Crime Division Police.
“In Komdigi we already have a mechanism and that also our data can be from content complaints, and also we are working with cybercrime from the National Police Headquarters to uncover and also identify actors who often repeat their actions through spam and scam actions,” Nezar said.
Furthermore, Teguh said that cyber fraudsters had a team that made their fraud mode continued to grow.Therefore, Komdigi also continues to develop detection tools as an effort to prevent fraud.
“They [fraudsters] have a research and development team. We [Komdigi] are the same. We develop many ways to be able to detect, preventive, so that (the community) does not occur scam and spam,” he explained.
