The full moon in November was known by early Native American tribes as the Beaver Moon, because this was the time of year to set beaver traps before the swamps and rivers froze over.This month is also known as the Frozen Moon and the Dark Moon.

This full moon is also the second of three Supermoons in 2025.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the full moon phase occurred on Wednesday (5/1) at 20.19 WIB.When this phenomenon occurred, the Earth-Moon distance was 356,980 km, with the Moon’s Semi-Diameter measuring 16′ 43.87″.
This phenomenon can be seen all over the world, including Indonesia.You can start watching it after the moon rises in the late afternoon.
“The peak of the full moon phase will occur at 20.19 WIB,” said the BMKG statement on the account @tandatimebmkg, quoted Monday (3/11).
Then, the Moon’s perigee occurred on November 6 2025 at 05.28 WIB, which was observed in the hemisphere of the Earth where it was still nighttime.
The Moon at Perigee on November 6 2025 is 356,833 km from Earth, which is recorded as the closest distance between Earth and the Moon this year.

, The Moon does not orbit the Earth in a perfect circle, but instead has an elliptical orbit that resembles the shape of an egg.Therefore, its distance from Earth is not always the same.
At its closest point (perigee), the Moon is around 354,055 km from Earth, while at its farthest point (apogee), the distance is around 402,336 km.
If the Moon is in the full phase when it is closest to the Earth, or within 90 percent of the perigee distance, then the phenomenon is called a Supermoon.
The term Supermoon was first introduced in 1979 by astrologer Richard Nolle to describe a full moon that appears larger and brighter because it coincides with the position of the Moon closest to Earth.
This kind of full moon can appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a normal full moon.
November’s Full Moon, known as the Beaver Moon, will be the closest full moon to Earth this year.Because of this, the Moon will appear the brightest and largest compared to other full moons this year.
