Telkomsel estimates a spike in traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2025. Therefore, to anticipate network needs, Telkomsel carries out optimization at a number of points which is strengthened by AI Autonomous Network technology.
“Telkomsel is always present and makes every effort to provide the best service, especially at Christmas and New Year. We focus on 437 points of interest that we identify from year to year, at Christmas and New Year there is a significant increase in traffic,” said Telkomsel Network Director Indra Mardiatna at the Telkomsel Siaga Naru 2025 event, Jakarta, Friday (28/11).

Indra said that his party estimates that there will be a 17.9 percent spike in data traffic compared to normal days with a total payload of 76.49 Petabytes (PB).There was also an increase in SMS traffic by 13.2 percent.
Meanwhile, telephone call traffic is estimated to decrease by 0.7 percent compared to normal days.
The increase in data traffic itself was dominated by video streaming with a total payload of 29.7 PB (28.3 percent increase) and social media of 21.8 PB (31.8 percent increase).
Apart from that, there was also an increase in communications with payload of 11.6 PB (26.9 percent increase), e-commerce of 1.9 PB (43.9 percent increase), and online gaming of 1.9 PB (23.2 percent).
“At Christmas and New Year there is an increase in services, especially video streaming services, especially social media, online gaming, and so on,” said Indram.
Telkomsel’s communication needs during the Naru 2025 period itself will be served by more than 5,000 5G BTS, 4G signals covering 97 percent of the population area, as well as 38 Compact Mobile BTS (COMBAT) which are on standby.
Specifically at the 437 POIs that are of concern, Telkomsel is optimizing the network using machine learning with reference to data on traffic growth and economic potential.
Telkomsel also deploys Autonomous Network technology to carry out early detection, analysis diagnosis, identification, notification, and automatic resolution of disturbances with AI at all POIs.
