Tim Cook will reportedly step down from his position as CEO soon

next year.Apple itself is said to be preparing for this change in leadership.
According to a report from the Financial Times, the company’s board of directors and senior executives “recently accelerated preparations for Cook to hand over the leadership baton.”
The report states that Apple is unlikely to appoint a new CEO before its next quarterly financial report at the end of January.

However, the report explains that an announcement early in the year would allow for a smooth leadership transition, before Apple’s annual developer conference WWDC in June and the iPhone event in September.
There has been no final decision on when Cook will step down and the timing could change.
Quoted from Macrumors, Cook has served as CEO of Apple since August 2011. He is 65 years old this year, which is the common age for retirement in the United States, but he has not officially announced plans to step down.
John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, is considered Cook’s most likely successor when the time comes.
Ternus himself joined Apple in 2001. At the age of 50, he is one of the youngest senior executives at Apple, so he has the potential to serve as CEO for quite a long time.
Furthermore, the report states that Apple’s leadership transition plans are not related to the company’s current performance.
Apple reported record earnings in the third quarter, and the company estimates the current fourth quarter will be the best quarter in the company’s history.Additionally, Apple’s stock price is approaching an all-time high.
