Hinge received public attention after the elected Mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, was discovered to have used the platform to look for a partner and ended up meeting his wife, Rama Duwaji.
The story of the two became public discussion after various reports revealed how Hinge was the beginning of their meeting and interaction.
Hinge itself was released in 2013 and currently has more than 30 million users.

To differentiate itself from dating apps like Tinder and other dating apps, Hinge focuses on long-term relationships rather than short-lived relationships with the tagline “Designed to be deleted.”
The idea behind Hinge in theory is to help you find your true partner rather than just an endless string of matches and fruitless dates.
Like other dating apps, what you find on Hinge depends largely on your own personal preferences as well as the preferences of the people you find compatible with.
While you may be more likely to find people looking for a serious relationship on Hinge than on other apps, there are still plenty of people on the app who are looking for more casual connections.
To use the Hinge application, you just download it from the application store and register using your phone number, email or Facebook account.
From there, you’ll be asked to add some photos to your profile, fill in personal information about yourself and what you’re looking for, and choose a few prompts to add a touch of personality to your profile.

Once the profile has been filled in, you can immediately search for matches.If you use a free Hinge subscription, Hinge will display a series of profiles in sequence.
You can refuse to match by pressing the X button in the bottom left corner, or try to match by liking a photo or prompt by tapping the heart icon next to it.
Hinge will show you who has liked your photos and prompts in the hearts tab.However, to secure a match, you must complete the next step and press the button with the speech bubble to start the conversation.
