WhatsApp
Launching new features to protect its users from digital fraud experiments.Check out how.
Every day, fraudsters target users of messaging applications with various modes, ranging from offers that appear tempting to the pyramid scheme that promises money in a short time.
Responding to this issue, WhatsApp continues to strengthen user protection by adding a new layer of security that supports machine learning technology in detecting and blocking a mass fraud account.
WhatsApp now also presents a variety of protection features, such as context cards, ease of blocking and reporting suspicious messages, features for unknown caller, and privacy settings that give control users to anyone who can add me to the group.
For group activities, WhatsApp now displays security notifications when the user is entered into a suspicious group by people outside of your contact.
Users will get important information about the group and tips for maintaining security.Furthermore, users can immediately leave the group without the need to open a conversation.
If you feel know the group, users can open a conversation to get further context.Notifications will be eliminated automatically until the user selects to stay in the group.
Fraudsters also often start interactions on other platforms before directing users to continue the conversation in private, such as through WhatsApp.
To protect users from this, WhatsApp develops new ways that encourage users to think twice before interacting further.
One way is to present a warning when the user sends a message to someone who is not in the contact list.
With this warning, WhatsApp includes additional information about the recipient of the message so that users can be more careful before continuing the conversation.
Furthermore, WhatsApp said that his party continued to try to eradicate fraud centers which often involved the practice of forced labor and carried out by an organized crime network, especially in the Southeast Asian region..
During the first six months of this year, the WhatsApp and Meta security team managed to identify and block more than 6.8 million accounts connected to the fraud center.
Armed with the results of internal investigations and collaboration with law enforcement, these accounts are said to be successfully stopped in a proactive manner before they were used by the perpetrators to carry out their fraud.
